Account types
The role you choose at sign-up sets up the right surfaces and the right Tori. Here's what each one does.
Student
Built for studying, asking questions, and turning in work. Students get:
- Study mode with notes, decks, and Tori the tutor
- Course enrollment, assignments, and quizzes
- Co-study rooms with friends
- Free forever for the core experience
Educator
For teachers, professors, TAs, and instructors at any level. Educators get:
- Courses, assignments, and rubrics
- SpeedGrader with optional AI-assisted grading
- Tori for Educators — rubrics, quizzes, lesson plans, announcements
- Roster management and join-by-link enrollment
Founder
For people running a small team, a startup, or a side project. Founders get:
- A workspace they own (and can invite others to)
- Projects, tasks, and agents
- Billing controls and member management
- The most permissive role inside their workspace
Team member
Anyone invited to an existing workspace. Capabilities depend on the workspace role they were invited at — owner, admin, manager, contributor, or viewer. See Roles & permissions for the matrix.
School admin
For IT staff and curriculum leads at schools, districts, and universities. Admins get:
- An admin console with users, courses, and usage views
- Single sign-on configuration
- Bulk roster operations
- Billing and plan management for the institution
Note
Switching account type
From Settings → Account, change your role at any time. The surfaces you had access to before stay accessible if your new role permits them — the change is additive in most cases. If you're unsure, contact [email protected].
